Clevis lug for vessel locking ring subject to loading from a hydraulic ram
A clevis lug is required to turn a keyed locking ring via a hydraulic ram. The lug was failing at the attachment to the locking ring.
K.J. Beer was asked to redesign the lug and method of attachment to the locking ring. Design and full fabrication procedure was included.
Since the lug was short and thick, the FEA method required brick elements.
